Keratin, Tape-in or Weft: which technique should you choose?

An extension service starts with choosing a technique. Here are the differences and questions for your salon before selecting shades, lengths and references.

Three attachment systems, different choices

Keratin uses strands, Tape-in uses adhesive strips and Weft uses hair wefts. This helps compare ranges without confusing the fitting system with the shade or length.

KERATIN

Work strand by strand

Keratin extensions have a pre-bonded attachment point. Fitting uses a suitable heat tool to work on each strand.

Prepare in the salon: bond placement, number of strands, and fitting and removal tools.

TAPE-IN

Work with adhesive strips

Tape-in extensions use thin adhesive strips. Classic and Invisible share this attachment principle.

Prepare in the salon: tape placement and compatibility of the adhesives, tools and products used.

WEFT

Build the fitting with wefts

Weft extensions have hair attached to a weft. The attachment method must suit the chosen system.

Prepare in the salon: row layout, chosen weight and equipment compatible with your method.

The right choice starts with a salon assessment

No single range meets every need. Clarify the desired result and service plan with your client before preparing your basket.

  1. Define the desired result

Does your client want more length, volume or a colour effect? Identify the areas to work on before choosing references.

  2. Assess the original hair

Consider density, length and usual hairstyles. The system and distribution of extensions depend on your professional assessment.

  3. Plan follow-up

Explain care and follow-up appointments according to the technique and manufacturer's instructions. Also identify the products and accessories needed.

From your plan to the right reference

After choosing the technique, open the range's product page in the CAPELIO catalogue. Select the shade and length: weight, reference and availability help define your order.

The shade

Compare the photos and use the shade code to find your selection again. Use a physical colour ring to prepare a match in the salon.

The quantity

Variant weight and pieces per pack are different details. Check the product page; do not infer the required quantity from a photo.

The accessories

Check compatibility with the chosen system. Find available references under Accessories.

If information is missing to prepare the service, send CAPELIO the range and relevant codes. We will check the options with you before ordering.

Questions before ordering

Which technique should I choose for fine hair?

“Fine hair” alone is not enough to choose a technique. Bond placement, visibility and load distribution must be assessed in the salon according to the hair and desired result.

How many packs should I plan for?

It depends on pack size, original density and treatment areas. Check the chosen reference; for a CAPELIO request, specify the range, length and desired effect.

How long do extensions last?

There is no single duration for all references and clients. Consult the product instructions and plan follow-up according to fitting, regrowth and care.

What if a shade or length is not listed?

Send us the range and required specifications via the contact form. Other references may be available; CAPELIO will check the options with you.

Technical sources

Attachment principles were checked against the manufacturer's information: SEISETA fitting systems and Invisible Tape-in and B-Cover. This guide helps prepare your selection; consult the instructions for each reference for fitting and care.
